Terroir & Climate

Location

Paso Robles lies approximately 200 miles north of Los Angeles and south of San Francisco on California's Central Coast, offering an ideal Mediterranean climate for premium wine production.

Climate

Hot summer days cool dramatically at night due to Pacific Ocean influence, creating significant diurnal temperature variation that preserves acidity while developing ripe fruit flavors.

Soil

Alkaline soils with excellent drainage stress vines naturally, resulting in smaller berries with concentrated flavors and complex mineral characteristics.

Viticulture & Winemaking

Vineyard Management

Our viticulture team practices meticulous hand-pruning, shoot thinning, and cluster thinning to ensure optimal grape quality. Every vine receives individual attention throughout the growing season.

Harvest occurs in the cool early morning hours when grapes retain their natural acidity and fresh fruit character. Hand-picking allows careful selection of only the finest clusters.

Gentle handling during crushing and pressing preserves delicate aromatics and prevents harsh tannin extraction, resulting in wines of elegance and finesse.

Winemaking Philosophy

In the cellar, we combine traditional techniques with modern precision. Fermentation is carefully controlled to extract optimal color, flavor, and structure from each varietal.

Our wines age in a combination of French and American oak barrels, selected based on the specific varietal and desired style. Regular tastings by our winemaking team guide the aging process.

Minimal intervention and careful monitoring allow each wine to express its unique terroir while maintaining consistency and quality across vintages.
